Seeing Victims as Victims

The Supreme Court has lamented that “it is highly deplorable and heart-rending to note that many poverty stricken children and girls in the prime of youth are taken to ‘flesh market’ and forcibly pushed into the ‘flesh trade’ which is being carried on in utter violation of all canons of morality, decency and dignity of humankind.”

The Doctrine of Promissory Estoppel

The Doctrine of Promissory Estoppel is an equitable doctrine evolved to avoid injustice and though commonly named Promissory Estoppel, it falls in the sphere of neither contract nor estoppel. This principle is commonly invoked in common law in case of breach of contract or against a Government. The doctrine is popularly called as Promissory Estoppel, Equitable Estoppel , Quasi Estoppel and New Estoppel.
